Changing JioFi Name (SSID) and Password

  • Step 1- Connect your smartphone/laptop to your JioFi router over WiFi or using USB cable.
  • Step 2- Launch the web browser you are using and go to ‘http://jiofi.local.html‘ and hit search.
  • Step 3- Click on ‘Login’ option at the top right corner and enter ‘administrator’ as the username and the password.
  • Step 4- Then, navigate to the ‘WiFi settings’ which you will find under the ‘Settings’ tab.
  • Step 5- Change the SSID name and password here as per your wish.
  • Step 6- Once you are done, click on ‘Save’ to save the new password.

That’s it! The password of your JioFi router will be successfully updated. However, all the devices connected to your JioFi router will be disconnected, and now you will have to enter the new password to reconnect your devices to your JioFi router.

How to Change JioFi Name and Password Newbie Friendly Guide

#1 Switch on your JioFi router: The initial step is to power on your JioFi router. Hold the power button till the device is turned on. Be patient till the router is completely on and ready to use.

#2 Connect a device to your JioFi router: Now, connect your smartphone or laptop to your JioFi router over WiFi. If you haven’t changed the username and the password of your JioFi router, then you will find the default username and password on the back of its box, or at the back of the device. But, if you have changed it before then you will have to enter the changed password.

#3 Access the configuration page to manage the JioFi’s settings: To access the configuration page, launch a web browser on the device which you have connected to the JioFi router in the above step. Then, enter ‘http://jiofi.local.html’ or ‘’ in the search bar and hit the search option.

#4 Login to the settings page of your JioFi router: When you search for the URL provided in the above step, you will arrive at a login page. Here, you will find two fields. Namely, username and password. Type in ‘administrator’ in both the fields and click on the ‘Login’ option which will be located below the fields.

#5 Set a new password: Now, to change the password, click on Network >> Wi-Fi Configuration. You will then e displayed a list of options such as Status, Channel, Encryption, etc. As you go down, you will find on option with the name ‘Password.’ Here, you can enter any password of your wish. Once you are done entering your password, click on ‘Save’ to save the changes which you have made.
